I'm not that big of a fan of these rings because to me, they don't seem like actual rings..I like the idea of it, but I would prefer an actual sterling silver ring.

Blog #17

I have learned how to add chains (like show) to a necklace in order to create length and how to add a lot of beads in a sequence.
I don't think I would change anything.

Gustav Klimt

I like this painting because I like the gold "tears." I also like the people cuddling on the left side of the painting.

Couture Piece

During this project, I learned that it takes a lot of beads to make this!! I also learned that you might need to play with your piece a little bit in order to make it look right and be wearable at the same time. One technique I learned was to connect two separate strands to one strand in order to make it so that the 3 strands don't mix (the middle piece is what I did for this.) I originally was going to have all three strands just hang, but I found that they were getting tangled too easily. I really don't think I would change anything about this piece. I am really happy with how it came out and I love the way it looks!!! :) :) :)

Couture

This piece is couture because it has way more chains than what is needed and has an exaggerated amount of charms on it. From what I can see, the artist used a lot of layering in order to create the effect of the piece being one big chain piece.

Couture Jewelry

I chose this piece as a couture project. I thought that I could blow it out of proportion with much larger beads and longer chains. I think it's a pretty piece because of the uniqueness of a necklace like this.

Caravaggio

This piece by Caravaggio is very interesting to me. It seems as if Medusa is appalled by something. I love her facial expression. Although it is quite a strange painting, the detail that was put into this portrait is stunning, nonetheless.

What I've Learned.

This past week, I learned how to connect the nail polish pendants to make a bracelet. I even make them unique by using ribbon as the connecting string! I think they turned out beautifully and I really enjoyed making them!

Georgia O'Keeffe

I've always been a fan of Georgia O'Keeffe because I thought that her paintings were amazing and very inspirational. I really like the skull paintings because I find animal skulls to be nothing short of interesting! The paintings she makes are truly beautiful and I wish that I had talent like her!

Wire Wrapped Necklace

This wire wrapped necklace is both unique and simple at the same time. I really like the simplicity of it and how the wrapping of both the gems makes it go together really nicely. One technique the artist used was that they seemed to feed the wire through a hole at the gem's end and just wrap it around the gem to create a look that seems like it's floating from the wire.

Treble Clef Bracelet

I thought this bracelet was very interesting because of the way they used flat and rounded edges to make the bracelet unique! I like how the bracelet connects together. It is a very unique style of bracelet with a treble clef, and that's not something you really see often.
One technique used to create this piece is the use of flattening certain areas and how you "clasp" the bracelet so it stays on. I think it is very unique!

My Jewelry

For this project, I don't really feel that I would change anything. It's simple and beautiful at the same time.
I like that I used these beads because they change colors in the sunlight and are really beautiful to me.

Pendant

I think that this pendant is absolutely stunning and creative. I am obsessed with travel and the world and I think that this pendant would be a great addition to a traveler's collection! One technique that I noticed is how the artist used a ring to attach areas like Australia and Greenland/Iceland. I think this is an adorable piece and I would love to have it!

Things I've Learned

Over the past week, I have learned many things! Some of them being how to make a wire ring, how to make a necklace, and so many other things! One thing that I have loved making is our charm bracelet. We use beads both large and small to create amazing charms and unique bracelets. I hope that mine will turn out looking neat and beautiful! :)

Interesting Artwork

I thought that this piece of jewelry was interesting because it mixes two different medias: pearls and gold. The piece is called "Liquid Love." When I saw this piece, I just thought that it was so interesting and beautiful, however I'm not sure how functional it would be to wear. I think that it is all around beautiful and that would be great conversation piece.

About Me.

I am a student from New Hampton High School. I live North of New Hampton near a very small town called Jerico, Iowa. In my free time I like to explore the technology of the internet and spend time with my friends and family. Some days I spend my time listening to music and drawing. I like listening to all kinds of music, however, country and pop are the genres I listen to the most. Something interesting about myself is that I absolutely love to travel and see new places. I hope that when I get older I can visit all of the 7 continents and visit many countries as well.
In my Jewelry class, I hope to learn new techniques and advance in my jewelry making skills. To me, art is a way to express your individualism and ideas through a form of art media that you feel you advance at.
